The project
The CAVERN at CMU's ETC is a VR room with a 270° curved stereo screen. It could track one player and draw the world from that player's view. Anyone else had to stand close to them to see things right.
Team TorchBearer built a multi-perspective rendering technique that tracks several players at once. Each player sees objects from their own point of view, so people can move freely, hand objects to each other and look at the same thing from different sides. We made a game called Mérida to show it off.

Sillas Confidentes
Blooming flower
In the CAVERN
Two players hold the flower together and it bursts into bloom. Each one sees it from their own position, which is what multi-perspective rendering makes possible.
